Cape Henlopen State Park

Cape Henlopen State Park

Cape Henlopen is Delaware’s largest State Park. Comprised of over 7,000 acres, this beautiful coastal habitat was established in 1682 by William Penn. Due to the area’s natural beauty, Penn declared that the land be set aside for “the usages of the citizens of Lewes and Sussex County.” Visitors to Cape Henlopen Park can enjoy the beauty of a coastal environment encompassed by ocean and bay beaches, maritime forests, and tidal salt marshes. The Park contains the highest dune system between Cape Code and the Outer Banks.

In addition to camping at the family campground, visitors come to Cape Henlopen year-round to enjoy numerous outdoor activities, including fishing from ocean beaches or the Bayside Pier, environmental and historical programs, bird-watching, hiking and biking. The Park also has overnight dormitory-style accommodations and primitive camping for youth groups. The Former Officers Club at Cape Henlopen is the perfect venue to host private events.
